💡 Parent tip: Park in the town car park (signposted) and walk down. The main beach (Platja Gran) has lifeguards in summer and very calm water for toddlers.

Tossa de Mar is that postcard-perfect town that actually delivers when you visit with kids. The main beach (Platja Gran) has fine sand, the water gets deep very gradually, and in summer there are lifeguards. Perfect for those days when you need the little ones to splash happily while you sit down for five consecutive minutes. There are bars with terraces right behind the beach where you can order something cold without losing sight of them.

The walk up to the Vila Vella (the walled old town) is the real highlight if you’re going with kids who walk well on their own. It’s not long, but it’s uphill, so best leave the stroller at the bottom. The views from the top are incredible and the walls make them feel like they’re in a real castle. There’s a small museum inside, but honestly, kids enjoy running through the stone alleyways much more.

A practical tip: go on a weekday if you can. Summer weekends get very crowded and parking becomes a nightmare. Bring water shoes for the kids because there are rocky patches near the water. And if you want to eat well without breaking the bank, walk a couple of streets back from the seafront: the second-row restaurants are cheaper and less touristy.
