Parc de Collserola
★★★★★
Barcelona's green lung. A huge natural park with family-friendly hiking trails, fountains, picnic areas, and nature you wouldn't expect so close to the city. Perfect for escaping the asphalt without leaving Barcelona. Kids discover real forest just 20 minutes from the center.
Serra de Collserola, Barcelona
Ctra. de l'Església, 92, 08017 Barcelona
🗓️ Spring
💡 Best for: Families who want real nature without leaving the city (0-5 years)
⚠️ Avoid if... Very hot summer days without shade — though the forest helps a lot
💡 Parent tip: Start at the Information Center (Ctra. de l'Església) — they have maps of easy trails and bathrooms. The Font de la Budellera is a short, beautiful route perfect for little ones.
Collserola is our refuge. When the city overwhelms us, when the kids need to step on actual earth instead of pavement, we head up to Collserola and in 20 minutes we’re in another world. Real Mediterranean forest with pine trees, holm oaks, squirrels, and a silence that feels like science fiction in Barcelona.
There are trails for every level. With a stroller you can do some of the wider paths near the Information Center. With a baby carrier or kids who are already walking, the options multiply. The Font de la Budellera is our favorite: a short trail that leads to a fountain where kids can play with water and forest sticks. The picnic area near Vil-la Joana is another family classic.
What we love most about Collserola is that it’s not an urban park — it’s real nature. Kids can get dirty, climb over logs, search for bugs, and do all those things they can’t do in the city. Wear closed shoes (no sandals), bring water and food. And if you’re bringing a dog, great — it’s dog-friendly. A top-notch plan that we repeat every few weeks.
